The university’s commencing week has come to the end. Last week, CIBR called for the first class meeting with a special Freshmen theme to support student life of our newly enrolled PhD students and to help them meet the classmates as well as getting them to know better of each other. As Tan Lubin, the program manager spoke that CIBR is the first and profound institute founded to convene elites students who are interested in Neuroscience national-wide, with an ultimate goal of training them to promote the development of Chinese brain research industry with an integrated knowledge background from various and diverse disciplines. In this regard, CIBR aimed to intake students specialized in different research fields (e.g. computer science, biomedical engineering, psychology and chemistry etc.). Li Ang, the Party secretary of CIBR 2018 branch, has a dual background in biological science and psychological counselling. She is now doing animal studies on electrophysiology in the lab while at sunset she turns to a professional therapist who likes to listen and comfort patients who are mentally drought and really need someone to talk to. Different in specialization, the student representative this year, Wang Chaoming is an expertise in Artificial Intelligence and machine learning. He is a kindly man who is ambitious about taking care of all other classmates in terms of academic progress and daily life.

We also have Specialists from bioinformatics, mathematics,  chemistry and psychology. Lu Tiezhan and Wang Yan are strongly interested in social emotional cognitions and using neuroimaging evidence to explain the mechanisms that underpin human decision-making at a neuronal level. Their works can definitely be refined and improved in support of specialist advices from Ai DaoSheng, Mi Huijie and Chen Xinfeng, who are proficient in fundamental knowledge of biology/neurobiology. Whilst majority students worked in the academia, our one and only former in-hospital practitioner, Zhang Tingting shows a huge potential to provide the team with some novel ideas and insights from her previous clinical experiences.

They are indeed the first batch, endorsed with blossoms and are expected not only to make huge contributions to the society, to the academic and the CIBR, but also to grow together with this institute. Unlike the incubation of addicts’ drug carvings that shows drastic fluctuations between dropping and relapsing when time passes by, the CIBR consistently and devotedly offers the best and nationally-leading resources and academic directions to its students and researchers. So, wanna join us and become a member of this diverse and vibrant team? File your applications or pay us a visit before the next summer starts!
