The Chinese Institute for Brain Research, Beijing (CIBR) and Nature Portfolio are pleased to announce that the 2026 Beijing Brain Conference will be held from August 14 to 16, 2026, in Changping, Beijing.

The Beijing Brain Conference is a premier international academic forum in brain science, co-organized by CIBR in partnership with leading brain science and brain-inspired research institutions worldwide. Since its inception in 2020, the Conference has been successfully held for three editions, featuring over 250 distinguished scientists and early-career researchers from countries and regions including the United States, Germany, Japan, and Australia, among whom are four Nobel laureates and twelve academicians. With a cumulative audience of nearly two million participants both online and on-site, the Conference has established itself as a prominent platform for showcasing cutting-edge advances in brain science and fostering international exchange and collaboration.

At present, the elucidation of brain disease mechanisms and the advancement of brain–computer interface (BCI) technologies represent core frontier directions in global neuroscience and brain-inspired intelligence research. Whether it involves uncovering the pathogenic mechanisms underlying complex brain disorders — such as neuropsychiatric conditions and neurodegenerative diseases — or driving the clinical and engineering translation of high-bandwidth, high-precision brain–computer systems, there is an urgent need for theoretical and foundational breakthroughs at the molecular, cellular, circuit, and systems levels.

In alignment with these scientific and technological frontiers, the 2026 Conference will be held under the theme "From Molecules to Circuits: Toward Interventions for Brain Disorders", with a focus on multi-scale mechanistic understanding and translational applications. The program will comprise six thematic symposia and a Young Scientists Forum, as follows:

  • Neurodevelopmental Disorders: From Genetics to Mechanisms
  • Neural Mechanisms of Psychiatric Disorders
  • Neurodegeneration and Brain Aging
  • Neural Injury and System Dysfunction
  • Brain–Computer Interfaces and Neuroengineering
  • Therapeutic Strategies in Brain Medicine
  • Young Scientists Forum

To further stimulate the innovative potential of early-career researchers, the Conference will host a concurrent Poster Session, with an open call for research contributions from the global scientific community to facilitate in-depth exchange and collaboration.

Further details regarding the Conference — including invited speakers, registration, and abstract submission guidelines — will be announced through the official "北京脑" WeChat account and the CIBR official website. Please stay tuned for updates.
