Based on its own scientific research resources and innovative training system, the Chinese Institute for Brain Research, Beijing(CIBR) has launched the Undergraduate Research Program (2025). Focusing on cultivating outstanding talents in the field of neuroscience, this program is committed to discovering and nurturing innovative reserve talents with an international perspective, innovative spirit, solid professional knowledge, and the ability to creatively solve complex scientific research problems using interdisciplinary thinking. It builds a bridge from theoretical study to scientific research practice for undergraduates who love brain science research, helping them embark on a new chapter in their scientific research careers.

Ⅰ Target Trainees

Sophomores and juniors from universities in Beijing and the joint training universities of "One Ministry and Six Academies", with professional backgrounds in related science and engineering fields such as biology, medicine, pharmacy, psychology, physics, mathematics, chemistry, materials science, computer science, and electronic engineering.

Ⅱ Selection Method

To ensure the fairness of selection and the quality of training, each student can only apply to one laboratory and is not allowed to submit repeated applications to multiple laboratories.

1. Application Process

(1) Fill in the Application Form for CIBR Undergraduate Research Program and Personal Statement (templates are provided in the attachments).

(2) Submit Application: Send the PDF versions of the application form and personal statement as attachments to the designated email address of the applied laboratory (see the "List of Candidate Laboratories" for laboratory names and corresponding email addresses, which can be accessed by scanning the QR code at the end of the document).

The email subject must be named in the format of "2025URP - Full Name" (e.g., 2025URP - Zhang San).

(3) Preliminary Screening and Assessment: Mentors from the applied laboratory will conduct preliminary screening and assessment, focusing on English proficiency, academic background, professional quality, operational skills, research experience, and research proposals. Only those who pass the assessment can enter the laboratory for study and training.

(4) Information Collection: While submitting the application, fill in the information collection questionnaire within the application period via the link: https://wj.qq.com/s2/24308338/ajs0/.

2. Application Period: October 13, 2025 - October 28, 2025, 12:00 (noon)

Ⅲ Training Model

1. Training Methods

Adopt a dual-track model of "course learning + scientific research practice". Students complete the course requirements specified by their universities and conduct scientific research training under the guidance of mentors from CIBR during their spare time (including weekends, holidays and after-class hours).

2. Training Cycle

November 2025 to May 2026 (the specific time to enter the laboratory can be determined through negotiation with the mentor).

3. Training Tutors

3.Training Mentors

Doctoral mentors from CIBR.

Doctoral supervisors from CIBR.

4. Completion Assessment

At the end of the training cycle, students are required to submit the "CIBR Undergraduate Research Program Final Report" to each laboratory and conduct a presentation and defense. Students who pass the assessment will receive a completion certificate of the Undergraduate Research Program issued by CIBR.

Ⅳ Living Support and Daily Management

1. Living Support

Students successfully selected will be managed in accordance with CIBR's intern management regulations. Each laboratory will issue internship subsidies based on the students' actual attendance. CIBR may provide living support such as accommodation, commuter shuttles and meals according to the specific needs and actual conditions of the interns. During the internship period, students must purchase accident insurance by themselves to ensure effective personal safety protection.

2. Daily Management

Students successfully selected must strictly abide by all relevant regulations of CIBR on intern management and arrive at work on time as required. If they need to ask for leave due to special circumstances, they must go through the registration procedures with the mentor and laboratory administrator in advance, and shall not be absent without justifiable reasons. Students must strictly fulfill the confidentiality obligation for the unpublished research data, scientific research achievements and technical information they come into contact with during the scientific research work, and shall not disclose them to the outside world without permission.
