The central goal of CIBR is to nurture young talents in the field of brain science with a global vision. The institute’s graduate education covers admissions, training, research, and degree conferral, as detailed below:

Admission Overview: CIBR jointly recruits doctoral and master's students in collaboration with five top domestic universities, including Peking University, Peking Union Medical College, Beijing Normal University, and Capital Medical University. All admissions are for full-time academic degree students. The selection process emphasizes candidates who demonstrate a strong interest in brain science, a solid interdisciplinary background (e.g., biology, basic medicine, pharmacy, mathematics, physics, computer science, etc.) and great potential for research.

Training Model: CIBR implements a "rotation and designated mentor" system. Students must complete the course requirements of the corresponding university's training program during their first semester, while fulfilling laboratory rotation requirements and selecting a mentor. For example, for doctoral students jointly trained by Peking University and CIBR, the basic study duration is five years, with the first phase of coursework primarily completed at Peking University and the second phase focusing on scientific research and thesis writing mainly conducted at CIBR.

Research Areas: CIBR focuses on four major research directions: fundamental principles of the brain, brain disorders, neuroscience methods, and neural computation and neuroengineering.

Degree Conferral: Degrees are awarded in accordance with the regulations of the jointly trained universities.
