2026 CLS-CIBR-IDG Summer Training Program in Neuroscience and Cognitive Science—Admission Brochure
To boost innovative development in brain science and explore a new training model for top-tier innovative talents, the Chinese Institute for Brain Research, Beijing (CIBR) jointly launches the 15th Summer Training Program in Neuroscience and Cognitive Science for undergraduate students nationwide, in collaboration with the Center for Life Sciences (CLS), Tsinghua-IDG/McGovern Institute for Brain Research, and Peking University IDG/McGovern Institute for Brain Research.
Founded on March 22, 2018, the Chinese Institute for Brain Research, Beijing (CIBR) is a new R&D institution co-built by the Beijing Municipal Government, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Beijing Normal University, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences. Positioned at the global frontier and national strategic needs of brain science, CIBR innovates institutional mechanisms, integrates superior resources in brain science, and builds a comprehensive experimental and R&D platform for brain research. It gathers top global talents and outstanding research teams to tackle key scientific and technological challenges, yield major original innovations in brain science, promote international exchanges and cooperation, and strive to develop into a world-class brain science research institution leading technological frontiers.
The 2026 Summer Training Program will give full play to the collaborative strengths of universities and research institutes, and the in-depth integration of distinguished faculty and cutting-edge scientific research. Renowned domestic and international scholars will be invited to deliver lectures and provide guidance. Aimed at stimulating students’ academic interest and cultivating future academic elites, the program helps participants systematically explore frontier issues in neuroscience and cognitive science, and foster innovative research thinking and academic literacy. Undergraduates nationwide majoring in Biology, Psychology, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Chemistry, Medicine, Electronic Information, Engineering and other related disciplines, who aspire to join CIBR’s frontier research teams, are warmly welcome to apply.

Online application opens immediately. The program will be conducted offline. Any adjustment will be announced separately.
6.Fees & Arrangement
No tuition fee is charged. Accommodation and catering will be arranged for participants; travel expenses shall be borne by individuals.
II. Application & Selection
1. Eligibility
Full-time undergraduate students across China with a keen interest in neuroscience and a passion for engaging in neuroscience-related research.
4-year program students: must have completed Year 1 or Year 2 courses
5-year program students: must have completed Year 1, Year 2 or Year 3 courses

(2) Electronic Documents to Submit
① Completed application form (saved after online filling). Please fill in your frequently used email and check it regularly; admission and follow-up notices will be sent by email. Note: Gmail is not recommended.
② Personal statement (download the template via the specified link and complete it).
③ Two recommendation letters from experts (no fixed template required; the referee shall indicate professional title, position, affiliation and university with signature or electronic signature).
(3) Submission Method
Combine the above three documents (① Application Form, ② Personal Statement, ③ Recommendation Letters) into one single PDF file. Name the file as: Student Name – University Name – Summer Training Program.
Upload the PDF through the application system (document upload option available). You may submit the form first and upload documents later. If system upload fails, send the file to: gsummer@pku.edu.cn.

3.Selection Mechanism
Experts from co-organizing institutions will conduct comprehensive review and select candidates based on academic background and application performance.

The admission list will be published on the official website of the Center for Life Sciences (www.cls.edu.cn) and the notice board of the application website (http://pkuaais.cn/clssum/). Official admission letters will also be sent to the email address filled in the application form. Please double-check your email address during registration and check your inbox regularly.
