2026 Beijing Brain Conference Launched: Exploring Frontiers in Brain Science and Pioneering New Paths in Brain Disorder Intervention
The Chinese Institute for Brain Research, Beijing (CIBR) and Nature Portfolio are pleased to announce that the 2026 Beijing Brain Conference will be held from August 14 to 16, 2026, in Changping, Beijing.
The Beijing Brain Conference is a premier international academic forum in brain science, jointly initiated by the Chinese Institute for Brain Research, Beijing (CIBR), in partnership with leading institutions in China and worldwide dedicated to brain science and brain-inspired research. Established in 2020, the conference has been successfully held for three editions. To date, it has brought together more than 250 leading scientists and early-career researchers from countries and regions including the United States, Germany, Japan, and Australia. Distinguished speakers have included four Nobel laureates and twelve academicians. With a cumulative audience of nearly two million participants online and onsite, the conference has grown into a prominent platform for showcasing cutting-edge advances in brain science and fostering international exchange and collaboration.
Globally, mechanistic studies of brain disorders and advances in brain-computer interface technologies have become key frontiers in neuroscience and brain-inspired intelligence research. Breakthroughs in basic and theoretical research across the molecular, cellular, circuit, and systems levels are urgently needed to unravel the pathogenesis of complex brain disorders—including neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative diseases—and to advance the clinical and engineering translation of high-bandwidth, high-precision brain-computer systems.
Focusing on these scientific and technological frontiers, this year’s conference is themed From Molecules to Circuits: Toward Interventions for Brain Disorders. The program will center on multi-scale mechanistic insights and translational applications, featuring 6 thematic sessions together with a Young Scientists Forum:
· Neurodevelopmental Disorders: From Genetics to Mechanisms
· Neural Mechanisms of Psychiatric Disorders
· Neurodegeneration and Brain Aging
· Neural Injury and System Dysfunction
· Brain–Computer Interfaces and Neuroengineering
· Therapeutic Strategies for Brain Diseases
· Young Scientists Forum
To further foster innovation among early-career researchers, a concurrent Poster Session will also be held, offering valuable opportunities for in-depth academic exchange and research collaboration. A global call for abstracts is now open.
Updated conference information, including confirmed speakers, registration guidelines, and abstract submission instructions, will be released regularly through the official CIBR WeChat account (“北京脑”) and the CIBR official website. Please stay tuned.
