The 2022 Online Winter School of CIBR was successfully held during January 18th-21st, 2022. 204 students joined this event virtually from 69 top universities at home and abroad, including UCL, The University of Melbourne, NYU, Tsinghua University, Peking University, Nanjing University, etc.

During the four-day Winter School, all students participated in the opening ceremony, online courses & visit, journal club and closing ceremony, with the guidance of 14 CIBR faculty members. It provided an opportunity for them to learn more details about neuroscience and explore their research interest through the online courses and Q&A session organized by the PIs of different fields.

Meanwhile, students were also encouraged to present their thinking and ideas inspired by given papers through panel investigation and discussion in journal club, the better groups were awarded upon the performance at the end the Winter School

With detailed introduction of the latest trends of the neuroscientific research, the Winter School was highly praised by the students who aspire to a scientific career:

“I’m a computer science major student, but have a long stranding interest in the brain science,” said one of the students. “So I really appreciate those courses provided by all the PIs about their current research. Now I got further understanding about the neuroscience and its branches, and my interest in that field was also leavened. I really look forward to taking an onsite visit to CIBR in the future.”

“Online courses and journal club are the most attractive parts for me during the winter school,” a student said. “It’s a great start for students who aspire to neuroscience.”

“As a psychology major who plan to apply for a doctor’s degree, I totally agree that brain science knowledge is essential for our psychological research in a further step. And the Winter School shows me more about this new and fascinating field that I should work for.”

“I’ve participated in the online presentation of CIBR last year and started to know about its PIs since then. And what impressed me most this time was the panel discussion with other students. It’s quite helpful to learn from others’ experience in professional learning and research. I should say that I really enjoy the environment of CIBR and look forward to joining it in the future.”
