About the Lab

The Ting Wu Lab at the Chinese Institute for Brain Research, Beijing (CIBR) is dedicated to integrating cutting-edge knowledge from biology and neuroscience with advanced technologies in nano-electronics. Our goal is to develop innovative materials and devices that offer minimally invasive solutions for brain-machine interfaces and treatments for neurological disorders. We aim not just to "record" from the brain but to "understand" and "repair" it through multimodal, cross-scale methodologies. Our research ecosystem spans from the bottom-up design of micro-nano devices, exploration of mechanisms using animal models, to clinical translation in collaboration with top-tier hospitals. We are building a multidisciplinary team and welcome members from diverse backgrounds in materials, electronics, or biology who are passionate about interdisciplinary collaboration.

About the PI

Dr. Ting Wu is a Principal Investigator and Doctoral Supervisor at CIBR. She earned her Ph.D. from New York University and subsequently completed postdoctoral training in the laboratory of Professor Roozbeh Kiani at NYU’s Center for Neural Science. In 2021, she joined CIBR as a full-time faculty member and established a highly interdisciplinary research team integrating expertise in electronics, materials science, biology, and computer science.

As the lead technical architect of her group, Dr. Wu spearheaded the development of high-performance flexible intracranial cortical electrodes, which have been successfully integrated into the “Beinao-1(NeuCyber Matrix BMI System)” intelligent brain–computer interface system—a landmark achievement in China’s brain-computer interface initiative. Her pioneering work has been published in top-tier international journals including Advanced Materials, ACS Nano, and Advanced Science.
